FACES – Group Exhibition at Ardhi Gallery

Je, umeona uso wa msanii? This group exhibition featuring artists from Kibera explores the power of facial representation in contemporary African art from August 16th to September 16th, 2025.

Ardhi Gallery presents work by Edwin Mundi, Coster Ochieng, Clinton Odhiambo, Chester Nyamosi and many more – artists whose connection to Kibera brings authentic community perspectives to their artistic expression.

Opening reception August 16th from 3-6PM at Ardhi Gallery, Ole Sangale Link Road, off Mbagathi Road provides the opportunity to meet the artists and engage with their work in community.

What makes this art exhibition in Nairobi significant:Community-rooted artists – Work emerging from lived experience in Kibera • Facial representation focus – Explores how faces carry stories, identity, and cultural meaning • Month-long exhibition – Extended viewing period allows deeper engagement • Group format – Multiple artistic perspectives on similar themes

The textured artwork visible suggests mixed media approaches – combining painting, collage, and possibly found materials to create faces that carry both individual and collective stories.

www.ardhigallery.org provides additional information about the artists, their backgrounds, and related programming.

Whether you’re interested in community-based art, portraiture as cultural expression, or how contemporary African artists are representing identity through facial imagery, this exhibition offers multiple artistic voices exploring shared themes from authentic community perspectives.
